Asia Ali Rani

Mrs. Asia Ali Rani, an avid philanthropist died at the age of 69 on February 5th, 2022,  from multiple cardiac arrests. She was admitted to Evercare Hospital in November 2021 and later moved to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital where she breathed her last. Her Namaz e Janazah was held on 7th February 2022 at her ancestral hometown in Bogura.

The granddaughter of Advocate Dewan Mohiuddin, An MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) from Bogura, Mrs. Asia Ali Rani started her political career from an early age, as a student leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League. In due course, she held leadership roles at Bangladesh Mohila Awami League and was a former member of Parliament (MP) nominee from Bogura constituency.

Mrs. Asia Ali Rani spent significant years in Africa and the Middle East with her children and spouse Dr. A. K. M. Akkas Ali, who was an expatriate physician. She loved traveling and visited over twenty countries. She was an avid philanthropist and was engaged in various development projects of women’s sports in Bangladesh. She was the president of the International Women’s Congress during her stay in Libya and the president of the Rotary Club of Bogura Korotoa after moving to Bangladesh.

Mrs. Asia Ali Rani is survived by her husband, one daughter, one son, and two grandchildren.
