The second-largest religious gathering of the Muslim world, the ‘Bishwa Ijtema,’ will be held in three phases this year. Deputy Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, N M Nasiruddin, has stated that special security measures have been taken in preparation for the Ijtema.

According to the police, this year’s Bishwa Ijtema will be conducted in three phases. The first two phases will be organized by the followers of Shura-e-Nizam or the Jubaer faction, while the third phase will be conducted by the followers of Saad.

Although this information has been shared verbally, no official notification has been issued.

As per the latest information, the Shura-e-Nizam or Jubaer faction will hold the first and second phases of the Ijtema from January 31 to February 2 and from February 3 to February 5, respectively.

Later, from February 14 to February 16, the followers of Maulana Saad will conduct their phase of the Ijtema.

Regarding this, Habibullah Rayhan, the media coordinator of the Shura-e-Nizam Ijtema organizing committee, said that following the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Shura-e-Nizam faction will organize the Ijtema at Tongi Ijtema ground in two parts: from January 31 to February 2 and from February 3 to February 5.

Preparations for the Ijtema at the venue are progressing accordingly.

The media coordinator of the Ijtema organizing committee for the followers of Maulana Saad Ahmad Kandhalvi stated that, based on consultations with senior members, the followers of Nizamuddin Markaz will hold the Bishwa Ijtema at Tongi Ijtema ground from February 14 to February 16.

Officials from the Department of Public Health Engineering have stated that adequate arrangements have been made for water supply and sanitation at the Bishwa Ijtema ground. In anticipation of the large congregation of devotees, a daily supply of 35 million gallons of water has been ensured.

Additional toilets have been constructed, and the permanent ones have been made usable. Like every year, there will be no issues regarding water and sanitation for the devotees.

Deputy Police Commissioner N M Nasiruddin of Gazipur Metropolitan Police stated that sufficient police personnel will be deployed for the overall security of the Ijtema. The entire Ijtema ground will be monitored using CCTV cameras, watchtowers, and rooftop surveillance.

Moreover, a specialized team, along with a large number of plainclothes police officers and intelligence agency personnel, will be deployed in every sector. For fire safety, two fire extinguishers will be placed in each sector, and there will be a naval patrol in the Turag River.

He further mentioned that there will be control rooms managed by the police and armed forces at the Bishwa Ijtema ground and its surrounding areas.
