Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin stated that there were widespread irregularities in the past regarding Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) family cards.
"We will not repeat the fascist actions that were done earlier. If we follow the same practices, there will be no difference between us and them." He emphasized that only those in genuine need will be brought under the TCB card system.
On Monday, he made these remarks at an exchange meeting with TCB dealers and stakeholders held at the Khulna Deputy Commissioner's conference room.
Regarding TCB card activation and product distribution, the trade adviser said, "We will solve the existing challenges through coordination and collaboration. We want to distinguish ourselves from fascism. We must act according to the law and policy. We will revise the cards and simultaneously increase the number of cards to 10 million. We want to complete both tasks swiftly."
He instructed officials to ensure that no political divisions influence the card distribution process.
"Avoid creating local conflicts. Only those who genuinely qualify will receive the card, and they must take full responsibility for it," he warned.
The event was presided over by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam. Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad, Chairman of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), spoke as a special guest.
