The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has suspended the exchange of fresh notes for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr 2025. This means the distribution of new notes to the public, scheduled to begin on March 19, has been postponed.
This information was shared in a press release signed by Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Joint Director of the Central Bank, on Monday.
The release stated that, in light of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, the exchange of fresh or new notes has been halted. Banks have been instructed to retain the fresh notes available at their branches and not to distribute them.
They have also been advised to ensure that all cash transactions are carried out using re-circulated notes.
