Media reports about the cancellation of this year’s Independence Day parade on March 26 are incorrect, said Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder on Sunday.
In a statement, he explained that it will not be possible to organise the parade in the capital as in previous years due to ongoing renovation work at the National Stadium in Dhaka, UNB reports.
The interim government has, however, decided to hold the parade with full dignity across the remaining 63 districts of the country.
As part of the celebrations, the government will also honour the brave freedom fighters.
Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to take the necessary steps to ensure the successful holding of the event in their respective districts.
