Update : 22 Mar 2025, 11:25

Meteorologist Mostafa Kamal Palash, a PhD researcher in weather and climate at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, has forecasted a Nor’wester on Saturday. In a post on his verified Facebook profile early Saturday, he warned about the potential storm.

In his post, Mostafa Kamal stated that between 7 AM and 12 PM on Saturday, there is a high possibility of a Nor’wester accompanied by thunderstorms and light to moderate rain over several districts in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions.

He further wrote that the Nor’wester is expected to enter Bangladesh through Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, and Dinajpur in the Rangpur division and then move southeastward, passing through Nilphamari, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, and Gaibandha districts before advancing toward the Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions.

Additionally, he mentioned that between 7 AM and 12 PM on Saturday, light to moderate rainfall is likely over several districts in the Khulna, Barisal, and Dhaka divisions.

The sky over most districts in the country is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day, similar to Friday. The probability of drizzling is relatively higher in the central districts of the country.

Mostafa Kamal also issued a warning for the residents of the Rangpur division, cautioning them about the risk of severe thunderstorms as the Nor’wester passes through their districts.

He advised people to avoid staying outdoors under the open sky or engaging in agricultural activities during the thunderstorm.
