After a break on Eid day, Dhaka’s Metro Rail has resumed operations, along with intercity train services across the country. Train services restarted on Tuesday, April 1, from the morning.
Prior to Eid, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) announced on its verified Facebook page that Metro Rail would remain closed only on Eid day but would operate as usual on all other days.
Similarly, in a pre-Eid inter-ministerial meeting, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain stated that intercity train services would be suspended on Eid day. However, all train day-offs were canceled before Eid to accommodate the holiday rush, and regular schedules resumed afterward.
According to Dhaka Railway Station sources, the first train of the day, Tourist Express, departed for Cox’s Bazar at 6:15 AM.
Meanwhile, the first Metro Rail trip of the day left Uttara North Station for Motijheel at 7:10 AM, while the first return train from Motijheel to Uttara North departed at 7:30 AM.
