For the first time in the country’s history, monthly remittance inflow has crossed the $3 billion (300 crore) mark. In March, expatriates sent a record amount of remittance.
This information was revealed in the latest updated report by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (April 6).
Earlier, in December last year, the country received $2.64 billion in remittance. In the current fiscal year, $1.91377 billion was received in July, $2.22132 billion in August, $2.4041 billion in September, $2.395 billion in October, $2.2 billion in November, $2.64 billion in December, $2.19 billion in January, and $2.53 billion in February—all sent by expatriates.
Back in July 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the remittance received was $2.59 billion. That record was broken in December 2024, the month of victory, when the remittance for the entire month was around $2.64 billion. Now, surpassing all previous records, the remittance has exceeded the $3 billion mark.
