Gazette on Police Dress Rules, 2025 published

A gazette was published on Wednesday over the new Police Dress Rules, 2025.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 of the Police Act, 1861 (Act. No. V of 1861), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), with the approval of the Government, is pleased to make the rules,” said the gazette, BSS reports.

The new rules mention detailed specifications for uniforms, rank badges, and monograms for all ranks, including the Inspector General to constables. It also defines specific dress codes for different units like RAB, APBn, and women police.

National flower Shapla (water lily), resting on water, surrounded by wheat and paddy wreath jointed by three jute leaves at the top, the word "Police" in Bengali shall be written below the lower joint of paddy and wheat wreath in the police logo/monogram.

The regulations aim to standardize police appearance across duties and ceremonies.

The provisions of this rules shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in any other rules, regulations or orders for the time being in force, the gazzette added.
