In the wake of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that it will stand by India in the event of a war.
Republic Media Network asked Oren Marmorstein of the Israeli Foreign Ministry whether Israel would support India if it took military action against Pakistan in retaliation.
In response, he said, "We stand with India. This is our moral stance. This is how friends stand by friends."
Just hours after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Israel's Foreign Ministry issued this statement.
Israel has drawn parallels between the Pahalgam attack and its own struggles against terrorism.
Oren Marmorstein said, "We believe this attack bears many similarities to those that occurred on Israeli soil. The context may differ, but the carnage is the same. Like India, we too are victims of terrorism. We deeply understand the horror of terrorist attacks driven by jihadi extremist ideology on innocent civilians."
Expressing solidarity with India, he added, "India is our friend. This relationship is important. We know what it feels like when extremist terrorists target your people. Israel has stood with India and will continue to do so."
It is worth noting that in the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, 25 Indian tourists and 1 Nepali citizen were killed. India has accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist groups in Kashmir, a charge Pakistan has denied.
