BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government, to hold the national elections without causing any further delay.
“Please hold the national election as soon as possible and without causing any delay as you are not the government selected by the people”, said Fakhrul to Professor Muhammad Yunus.
He added that people want to select their representatives and that is possible through a voting process.
The BNP secretary general came up with the remarks during an event at Munshirhat Girls' High School in Thakurgaon's Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening.
Fakhrul added if holding the elections is delayed, Hasina will try more attempts to return to Bangladesh, while she is trying to destabilize the country by creating unrest.
Earlier in the day, Fakhrul attended a view-exchange meeting with Hindus at Lakshmi Hat under Baragaon Union in Sadar Upazila.
At the meeting, he said, “Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians and members of other faiths are living together for long with communal harmony. Let us not create any division among ourselves. Let us all be united with one goal to establish peace and democracy".
