Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that left 26 tourists dead. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack and taken a series of stern measures in response.
In retaliation, Pakistan has also implemented several countermeasures against India. Meanwhile, for the past 10 days, the armed forces of both countries have been exchanging gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.
In this tense atmosphere, Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, has issued a strong warning to India. He stated that if India attacks Pakistan or disrupts water supply to the country, Islamabad may resort to using its full military arsenal, including nuclear weapons.
In an interview with Russian broadcaster RT on Saturday, Khalid Jamali said Islamabad possesses credible intelligence indicating that India is planning a military strike on Pakistani territory.
The top Pakistani diplomat in Moscow claimed that leaked documents reveal plans to target specific regions in Pakistan. “Therefore, we believe this attack is imminent,” he said.
Jamali also described India’s actions regarding the Indus Water Treaty—as a response to the Kashmir attack—as an act of war.
He warned that any attempt to seize, block, or divert the flow of rivers in the lower region would be considered an act of war against Pakistan, and it would be met with full force.
Earlier, on Friday, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told Geo News that if India violates the treaty and constructs infrastructure on the Indus River, Pakistan will respond with an attack.
