There has been significant progress in resuming visa issuance for Bangladeshis by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries, according to Abdullah Ali Al-Hamoudi, the UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh.
He stated that the UAE Embassy in Dhaka is currently issuing 30 to 50 visit visas daily.
The ambassador made these remarks on Sunday during a meeting with the Chief Advisor’s Special Envoy, Lutfey Siddiqi, according to a statement shared from the Chief Advisor’s Press Wing.
During the meeting, the ambassador praised Siddiqi’s recent active engagement with the UAE government, which has included over half a dozen ministerial-level visits focusing on a range of issues—from visa facilitation to investment cooperation.
Ambassador Al-Hamoudi informed the special envoy that the embassy has expedited bulk visa processing for business delegations, helping to increase people-to-people contact and commercial exchanges between the two nations.
He added, “The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources has reintroduced the online system for skilled employment visas. Recently, visas have been issued for professionals such as marketing managers and hotel staff.”
The ambassador also said that 500 visas have already been issued for security guards, with another 1,000 approved and scheduled to be issued soon.
It is expected that the UAE will gradually ease visa restrictions over time. The press statement further noted that the ambassador assured continued flexibility in considering humanitarian and compassionate cases identified by Bangladeshi authorities.
Special Envoy Siddiqi welcomed these developments and thanked Ambassador Al-Hamoudi for his support.
Siddiqi also expressed gratitude for the initiative to begin discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
According to the press statement, a high-level UAE Cabinet delegation is scheduled to visit Bangladesh later this month to further advance bilateral cooperation.
