After undergoing advanced medical treatment in London for four months, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has returned home.
Following a warm welcome from party leaders and activists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, she left for her rented residence, 'Feroza', in Gulshan shortly after 11:00 AM. Later, on Tuesday, around 1:30 PM, she arrived at the Feroza residence.
Accompanying her were her two daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, along with top BNP leaders. Earlier, as she made her way from the airport to Firoza, thousands of BNP supporters gathered along the route to greet her.
Sources confirmed that Khaleda Zia traveled directly to the Firoza residence in Gulshan by road from the airport. The residence had already been prepared for her return, and security measures in and around the area were significantly strengthened. Members of the armed forces and various law enforcement agencies were deployed, with the presence of the military being particularly noticeable.
Earlier, on Monday at 4:10 PM Greenwich time, Khaleda Zia departed London for Dhaka aboard a modern air ambulance— a special royal aircraft provided by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
After a brief layover at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, she resumed her journey and departed for Dhaka at 6:05 AM Bangladesh time. She was accompanied by her daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman.
