'India may strike anytime'

Update : 06 May 2025, 22:01

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that India may launch an attack on the country’s border at any time.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, he said intelligence sources suggest that an attack along the Line of Control (LoC) could happen imminently.

He also stated that if such an attack occurs, New Delhi will receive a befitting response, according to The Economic Times.

Accusing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pushing the region to the brink of nuclear war for political gains, Asif claimed that India is also involved in recent terrorist activities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for the formation of an international investigative commission into the attack in Kashmir. He said such an investigation would clarify whether India or any of its internal factions were involved in the incident.

Amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, Pakistan’s army chief General Asim Munir said on Monday that the country is ready to respond to any aggression to protect its national dignity and people.

It is worth noting that bilateral relations between India and Pakistan hit a low after the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. India blamed Pakistan for the incident and took several diplomatic measures against Islamabad.

Pakistan also responded in kind. While a full-scale war has not broken out, both sides continue to trade sharp accusations. In this context, the defence minister’s warning is being seen as highly significant.
