India’s military says it launched “Operation Sindoor“, striking nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, while the Pakistan Army has begun its response to India's attack.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced this during a press briefing on Wednesday morning, reports Express Tribune.
He stated that during late-night Indian Air Force strikes, several civilian structures in Pakistan were damaged. So far, eight civilians have been killed, and 33 others have been injured.
The ISPR chief confirmed that the Pakistan Army is delivering a strong and coordinated response to the attack. He also asserted that the Pakistan Army is fully prepared to defend the country's sovereignty.
Ahmed Sharif mentioned that five people, including a child, were killed in an attack in East Ahmadpur, Kashmir. A child was injured, and Bilal Mosque in Muzaffarabad was partially damaged. Additionally, two more mosques, Abbas Mosque in Kotli and another in Muridke, were targeted, resulting in one death and one injury. He condemned the Indian attack as "cowardly."
Meanwhile, the Indian Army reported that three civilians were killed in shelling by Pakistani forces along the Kashmir border. They also stated that retaliatory measures have been taken.
On Tuesday night, India launched missile strikes on Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan. In response, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that the Pakistan Air Force shot down at least five Indian fighter jets.
