A mild to intense heatwave has been sweeping across various parts of the country for the past five days. While the scorching heat continued in many areas today, there was some relief as rain began in multiple districts this afternoon.

Although there is still no sign of rain in the capital, meteorologists have shared some hopeful news for Dhaka residents.

According to the Meteorological Department, the country's temperature has slightly decreased today. Rainfall started in the greater Mymensingh region, with showers reported in Netrokona, Kishoreganj, and Brahmanbaria after noon. Thunderstorms were also observed in parts of Netrokona in the evening.

The highest temperature in the country today was recorded in Chuadanga at 41.8°C. Yesterday, the same area recorded the year's highest temperature of 42°C. Compared to that, today's temperature showed a slight decline.

In Dhaka, the temperature was 39.9°C until 5 PM, slightly down from 40.1°C recorded yesterday.

Meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam stated that the temperature has slightly decreased compared to yesterday. The heatwave has subsided in almost all areas of the Sylhet division and partially in Mymensingh, with rainfall observed in different regions today.

Local representatives from Brahmanbaria, Netrokona, and Kishoreganj reported that rain started after noon, around 3 PM, with thunderstorms hitting Netrokona around 5:30 PM.

Meteorologist Omar Faruq mentioned that the rainfall may expand on Tuesday, with possibilities of showers in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
