In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha, advance ticket sales for long-distance buses will begin on May 16, as announced by the bus owners.
Tickets for journeys from May 29 up to the day before Eid will be available during this advance sale. This decision was made during a meeting of the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association.
On Wednesday afternoon, the association's Acting General Secretary, Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, informed the media about the decision.
Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh said that bus owners have decided to start selling advance tickets from Friday, May 16. From that day, passengers can purchase tickets simultaneously both online and at ticket counters.
However, many transport operators will sell tickets entirely online this time. As a result, passengers will have access to tickets through both counters and online platforms.
Regarding additional fare collection, Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, Managing Director of Shyamoli NR Travels, stated that bus fares will be collected according to the rates set by BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority).
No extra fare beyond the listed price will be allowed, and all bus owners have been instructed accordingly.
Commenting on AC bus fares, Rakesh said, "Last Eid, there were many complaints about AC bus fares. Since the government does not set the fare for AC buses, owners usually determine the price based on the luxury level of their buses. This time, we have discussed among the owners and decided to keep AC bus fares at a reasonable level."
