Thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour may sweep across five regions of the country. The Meteorological Department issued this warning in a special bulletin for inland river ports, effective until 1 PM on Tuesday, May 20.
According to the bulletin signed by meteorologist A.K.M. Nazmul Haque, temporary gusty or squally winds blowing at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h from the west or northwest may affect the regions of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Patuakhali, Cumilla, and Sylhet. River ports in these areas have been advised to display cautionary signal number 1.
Meanwhile, a weather forecast issued on Monday night indicated that many places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions; some areas in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Chattogram divisions; and isolated places in the Khulna and Barisal divisions may experience temporary gusty winds accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Additionally, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in some areas of the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
