Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance ticket for train travel ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, assuming June 7 as the date of the festival.
Ticket sales for homebound passengers during the Eid holiday will commence on Wednesday (May 21).
This information was shared by Md. Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, during a recent stakeholder meeting held in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha.
According to railway sources, as in previous years, tickets for seven days of train travel will be sold under a special arrangement before Eid.
To facilitate passengers, 100% of the tickets will be sold online this time as well. Ticket sales for all intercity trains heading to the western region will begin at 8:00 AM, while those for the eastern region will begin at 2:00 PM.
The schedule for advance ticket sales for intercity trains is as follows:
Tickets for May 31 will be sold on May 21; tickets for June 1 will be sold on May 22; tickets for June 2 will be sold on May 23; tTickets for June 3 will be sold on May 24; tickets for June 4 will be sold on May 25; tickets for June 5 will be sold on May 26; and tickets for June 6 will be sold on May 27.
Following the decision of the railway authorities, tickets for Eid journeys will be non-refundable. Each passenger will be allowed to purchase tickets for up to four seats.
