Rain or thundershowers may occur in parts of Dhaka and 17 other districts by 6 PM on Sunday (May 25), according to a bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. Rain has already started in several regions, including Faridpur and Barguna, and light showers have been reported in some areas around Dhaka.
The weather bulletin states that between 10:30 AM and 6 PM today, parts of the following districts may experience rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds: Manikganj, Munshiganj, Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Gopalganj, Kushtia, Rajbari, Pabna, Faridpur, Jashore, Magura, Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Sylhet, Cumilla, and Chandpur. Wind speeds may reach 45 to 60 kilometers per hour or more in these areas, and thunderstorms may accompany the rain.
Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa from the Meteorological Department said that rain has already started in parts of Barguna in the Barisal division, as well as in some areas of Faridpur and Chattogram. Some areas in Dhaka and Manikganj districts have also seen rainfall.
She added that there is a possibility of rain in the capital as well, possibly by 3 PM today, although the amount of rainfall is expected to be light.
