Hajj flights end, over 85000 pilgrims arrive KSA safely

As of Saturday, a total of 85,164 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to perform Hajj this year. They traveled on 219 flights operated under both government and private arrangements.

This information was shared in the latest Hajj bulletin issued on Sunday, June 1, citing data from airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Dhaka, and authorities in Saudi Arabia.

Of the 219 flights: Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 108 flights, carrying 41,902 pilgrims; Saudia Airlines operated 80 flights, transporting 30,789 pilgrims; and Flynas Airlines operated 31 flights, bringing in 12,473 pilgrims.

Sadly, 15 Bangladeshi pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia so far—14 men and 1 woman. According to the IT Help Desk, 9 deaths occurred in Makkah and 6 in Madinah. The most recent death was Mozlem Howlader from Madaripur, who passed away on May 29.

The official Hajj journey from Bangladesh began on April 29, with the first dedicated flight by Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying 398 pilgrims. The final outbound Hajj flight was on May 31. Return flights are scheduled to begin on June 10 and will continue until July 10.

This year, 5,200 pilgrims are performing Hajj under government management, while 81,900 pilgrims are doing so through private agencies. A total of 70 Hajj agencies are involved in facilitating the pilgrimage.
