In the past 24 hours, 14 out of 28 individuals tested in Bangladesh have been found positive for the coronavirus. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 2,051,720. No new deaths have been reported during this period.
This information was shared in the regular COVID-19 bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday (June 2).
According to the bulletin, one person recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 2,019,352.
A total of 28 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the overall detection rate in Bangladesh stands at 13.05%, while the detection rate in the last 24 hours was 50%.
The first three COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh were reported on March 8, 2020. The country recorded its first coronavirus-related death on March 18, 2020. The highest single-day death toll was 264, recorded on both August 5 and August 10 in 2021.
