Update : 10 Jun 2025, 17:12

A mild heatwave is currently sweeping across 36 districts of the country. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the heatwave may persist for several more days.

At the same time, the agency has forecast rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in various regions over the coming days.

In a weather bulletin signed by Meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruq on Tuesday morning (June 10), it was stated that although there may be scattered showers in some parts of the country, most areas will remain dry.

The Meteorological Department noted that a mild heatwave is affecting regions including Faridpur, Madaripur, Tangail, Chandpur, Feni, and Patuakhali, as well as areas in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions. The heatwave is expected to continue in these areas.

The forecast also mentioned that day and night temperatures across the country are likely to remain nearly unchanged.

For the 24-hour period from 9 AM on Wednesday (June 11), there is a possibility of temporary gusty winds with lightning and rain or thundershowers in some areas of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at a few locations in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions.

From Thursday (June 12), rainfall is expected to increase further. On that day, many areas of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and some parts of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions may experience light to moderate rain with thunder and gusty winds, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible in some places. During this period, day and night temperatures may slightly decrease.

The same pattern may continue into Friday (June 13) and Saturday (June 14). Most divisions may experience thunderstorms, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some areas. A slight drop in temperature is also expected during this time.

The Meteorological Department added that rainfall activity will continue in parts of the country over the next five days, and temperatures will gradually decline. However, until then, the ongoing heatwave may continue to disrupt daily life.
