The Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall in most parts of the country starting from Monday. The forecast states that this rainfall will continue until Saturday. As a result, the ongoing mild heatwave in various regions will subside.
People have been suffering from the mild heatwave over the past few days, with laborers facing the most difficulties. The Meteorological Department has reported that the wind speed is low, the humidity is high, and there is an extreme situation due to the seasonal low-pressure area.
Since Friday, the intensity of the sun has begun to decrease. On Saturday, rain was recorded in several areas, including the capital. However, the heat did not lessen.
The Meteorological Department has said that rainfall will increase starting from June 16, and the heatwave will reduce.
Weather expert Dr. Muhammad Abul Kamal Mallik said, "From tomorrow, the intensity of the rainfall will gradually increase. Between June 16 and June 22, intermittent rainfall will occur across the country. This rain will help ease the extreme temperatures or mild heatwave that is currently affecting the country, creating a more comfortable environment."
Due to the heavy rainfall, the Meteorological Department has issued a landslide warning for the Chittagong and Sylhet regions.
Dr. Muhammad Abul Kamal Mallik also mentioned, "Along with the rainfall, there will be gusty winds, stormy weather, and occasional thunderstorms. The heavy rainfall may cause landslides in the hilly areas of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, and Khagrachari."
The Meteorological Department has also reported that June has become the hottest month this year, instead of the usual April-May period.
