The spread of coronavirus is once again increasing in the country. In the past 24 hours, 26 people have tested positive for COVID-19.
The virus was detected in their bodies after testing 291 samples. During this period, one more person died from the virus. This information was revealed in the regular COVID-19 press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday (June 15).
According to the release, with the 26 new cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has now reached 2,051,833. So far, 29,503 people have died from the virus in the country.
The press release also stated that 4 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,019,410. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the overall test positivity rate stands at 13.05%, while the positivity rate for the last 24 hours is 8.93%.
Previously, on Saturday, 7 people were found positive after testing 139 samples. However, no deaths were reported on that day.
It is worth noting that the first COVID-19 cases in the country were detected on March 8, 2020, in three individuals. The first death from the virus occurred on March 18, 2020. On August 5 and 10, 2021, the country recorded its highest daily death tolls, with 264 deaths reported on each of those two days.
