Several police personnel were injured when a police vehicle came under attack at Ulipur in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The vehicle was vandalised and set on fire, said Mir Md Sajedur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, UNB reports.
According to the OC, central leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) were scheduled to arrive at the municipal park in Gopalganj town on Wednesday as part of their month-long July march programme.
The attack appears to have been carried out with an intention of disrupting the rally, he added.
Additional police forces have been deployed to prevent further trouble.
No arrests have been made so far, the OC added.
