Renowned journalist and lyricist Mahmud Manjur has been honored with the Best Entertainment Journalist Award at the 71 Media Iconic Awards 2025, held at Hotel Sky City in Dhaka. The ceremony recognized distinguished figures in media and culture across Bangladesh.
Mahmud Manjur, who currently serves as the Arts & Entertainment Editor at Bangla Tribune, has long been regarded as one of the country’s leading voices in entertainment journalism, according to a statement.
With a media career spanning over two decades, he has reported from major international festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival (2023 & 2024), Sundance Film Festival (2025), and holds accreditation from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as well.
Beyond journalism, Manjur is also a celebrated lyricist, having penned lyrics for nearly ten Bangladeshi films and over 150 songs across audio albums, dramas, and television. His lyrical works have earned him critical and popular acclaim, including the CJFB Best Lyricist (Popular) Award in 2020 and CJFB Best Lyricist (Critics) Award in 2023.
In May 2025, he made headlines with a rare hat-trick—winning Best Lyricist awards from three different national organizations in a single month, cementing his dual legacy in media and music.
Speaking at the event, Manjur expressed gratitude for the recognition:
"This award is not just for me, but for every journalist who continues to tell stories with sincerity and love for the craft. Entertainment journalism deserves its own dignity and depth, and I’m proud to contribute to its evolution."
Mahmud Manjur is also actively involved in the country’s creative landscape as a founder of Dhooli Communications, a media consultant for CMV, and a key member of the Lyricist Association of Bangladesh.
With this latest accolade, Manjur adds another milestone to a career marked by dedication, versatility, and a relentless passion for storytelling.
