Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) will publish the draft voter list on August 10, followed by the final list on August 31 after resolving claims and objections by August 21.
This information was shared on Tuesday (July 29) afternoon by Nasir Uddin, Senior Assistant Secretary of the EC.
He said the commission had initially planned to release a supplementary voter list due to delays in amending the Voter List Act. However, since the amendments were passed beforehand, the EC has now moved forward with preparing a comprehensive voter list for the upcoming election.
Earlier, Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, had stated that a draft list including 4.46 million new voters would be published soon.
According to the latest data, Bangladesh currently has a total of 123,732,274 registered voters. The Election Commission is preparing to hold the 13th National Election in early February. Law enforcement agencies have already been instructed to make full preparations, and the EC is actively progressing toward the polls.
It has also been reported that Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus may announce a tentative election date within the next few days.
