Messaging platform WhatsApp has announced a host of new features for voice messages to let users communicate more effectively on Thursday. The new features bring in the ability to listen to a message and read other chats simultaneously. Besides, users will be able to play voice messages at 1.5 or 2 times faster than the normal speed.
There are a total of six features that are introduced to voice notes on the chatting app.
In a statement, WhatsApp said, "Voice messages have made it quick and easy for people to have more expressive conversations. Showing emotion or excitement through voice is more natural than text, and in many situations, voice messages are the preferred form of communication on WhatsApp".
New WhatsApp Voice Messages features
Out of Chat Playback: Users will be able to listen to a voice message outside of the chat so they can multitask or read and respond to other messages.
Pause/Resume recording: When recording a voice message, users can pause the recording and resume when they are ready.
Waveform Visualization: Shows a visual representation of the sound on the voice message to help monitor the recording.
Draft Preview: Enables users to listen to their voice messages before sending them to other users.
Remember Playback: If users pause when listening to a voice message, they can pick up where they left off when they return to the chat.
Fast Playback on Forwarded Messages: Users will be able to play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speeds to listen to messages faster on both regular and forwarded messages.
WhatsApp might be working on a feature to solve the problem of sending larger files via its messaging platform. According to the WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform could be working on proving users with the ability to send files up to 2GB in size. It is worth mentioning that such a feature has been available on Telegram for a long time, where users can share multiple files at one go or one large file at a time.
