October remittance hits $692M in 1 week

In the first seven days of October, expatriates sent $692 million in remittances to Bangladesh, averaging about $98.8 million per day.

Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, shared this information on Wednesday (October 8). He noted that during the same period last year, remittances totaled $683 million, indicating a slight increase in remittance inflows this year compared to the same time last year.

Additionally, on October 7 alone, $141 million in remittances came into the country. From the start of the 2024-25 fiscal year until October 7, a total of $8.278 billion has been received, which is 14.60% higher than the same period last year.

Earlier, in September, $2.685 billion in remittances were received, in August $2.421 billion, and in July $2.478 billion.

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, a total of $30.32 billion (or $3,032.8 crore) in remittances has been received, setting a record for the highest remittance in a single fiscal year in the country’s history.
