DNCC mayor orders to preserve Rubel’s grave

Mayor Atiqul Islam has directed the concerned department of Dhaka North City Corporation to take steps to preserve the grave of former Bangladesh national cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel on humanitarian grounds.

‘Mosharraf Hossain Rubel did not play for himself, he played for the country. His contribution has made the people of the country proud. That is why I think it is our responsibility to preserve his grave permanently,’ said Atiqul on Sunday.

Chaiti Farhana, wife of the late cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, has verbally appealed to the mayor through the media to preserve Rubel's grave permanently.

Mayor Md Atiqul Islam is currently residing in the holy city of Makkah to perform Umrah. He gave this instruction to preserve the grave knowing the application through media.

Regarding the wife and child of cricketer Rubel, Mayor Atiqul Islam said, "The man who has spread the fame of Bangladesh all over the world will not get a single piece of land at the time of his departure. I cannot let that happen."

Former Bangladesh cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel died of cancer on April 19 at a hospital in the capital. He was laid to rest at Banani Graveyard in the city. The grave of Rubel will be removed to bury others after two years which made his wife appeal for preserving the grave permanently.
