BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday afternoon for the reception venue in 300 feet area in a bus.
In a live video broadcast by BNP’s media cell, Tarique was seen touching the ground after stepping out of the airport and standing barefoot for a few moments.
Later, Tarique boarded the special bus around 12:40 pm heading towards the 300 Feet area in Dhaka where a reception by party leaders and supporters was arranged.
The bus was closely guarded by law enforcement personnel throughout the journey.
Standing at the front of the bus Tarique waved to the thousands of BNP activists and supporters gathered to welcome him.
Thousands of BNP leaders and activists have already gathered on both sides of the road and at the venue to catch a glimpse of the party leader.
Painted in red and green, the bus features large portraits of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and party founder Ziaur Rahman on its sides.
Earlier, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Tarique Rahman landed at the airport at 11:44 am after departing from Sylhet.
