Danish Kaneria, the former cricketer of Pakistan cricket team, has fiercely targeted former captain Shahid Afridi.
Kaneria called Afridi a liar and a characterless man and also said that he used to instigate other players in the team against him. Kaneria was banned in 2012 in the spot-fixing case. Kaneria played 61 Tests and 18 One Day Internationals for Pakistan between 2000 and 2010.
Kaneria has alleged that Afridi is a 'liar' and 'characterless' who mistreated him just because he was a Hindu playing for the Pakistan national team. Kaneria, in fact, isn't the first person to have made such a revelation.
When Afridi was the captain, he was not given a chance in the team. He used to sit on the bench. Afridi was jealous of Danish who was both a leg spinner. Danish also accused everyone of inciting against him.
A couple of years back, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who spent significant time playing alongside Kaneria, had alleged that some members of Pakistani team used to mistreat the leggie because he was a Hindu.
Back then, Kaneria had thanked Akhtar for bringing his plight to the public domain but refrained from commenting on the issue any further.
“Today, I saw the TV interview of the legendary bowler Shoaib Akhtar. I personally thank him for telling the truth to the world. At the same time, I am thankful to all great players who supported me wholeheartedly as a cricketer. Also thankful to media, genuine cricket administrators, and citizens of Pakistan who supported me regardless of my religious affiliation,” Kaneria had said, reacting to Akhtar’s revelation.
