Lyricist, journalist KG Mostafa dies

Lyricist and journalist KG Mostafa died in his Dhaka home on Sunday evening.  He was 84.

Mostafa was suffering from complications related to his kidney and heart.

A senior member of the National Press Club, Mostafa died in his home in Azimpur area at about 8:00pm, said the club general secretary Ilias Khan.

The journalist’s namaze Janaza will be held on the Press Club premises after Zuhr prayers on Monday, he said.

KG Mostafa is known for writing many popular songs, including "Tomare Legeche Eto Je Bhalo, Chaand Bujhi Ta Jaane" and ‘Aynate oi mukh dekhbe jokhon’.

KG Mostafa was born in Begumganj of Noakhali on July 1, 1937.

He completed masters in Bangla Language and Literature in 1960 from the University of Dhaka.

In 1958, he started to work as trainee journalist for the Daily Ittehad. He worked in several dailies later.

Mostafa received many awards including Bangladesh Shilpakala Padak.
