Mostakur Rahman is set to be appointed as the new Governor of Bangladesh Bank.
This information was confirmed on Wednesday (25 February) by sources at the Ministry of Finance.
According to the sources, the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance has submitted a proposal in this regard to the new Finance Minister, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. The finance minister has given his consent. Upon receiving the prime minister’s approval, the matter will be sent to the President’s Office. A gazette notification will then be issued.
Sources from the Financial Institutions Division said that the new governor is currently teaching at a university in the United States.
Earlier, after the fall of the Hasina government, the interim government appointed economist Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur as the Governor of Bangladesh Bank.
Dr. Mansur had replaced the then governor, Abdur Rouf Talukder.
