Eid advance ticket sales begin

Update : 03 Mar 2026, 10:20

Advance train ticket sales to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr have started today. For passengers’ convenience, all tickets will once again be sold entirely online. On Tuesday (March 3), advance tickets for March 13 are being issued. At the same time, advance ticket sales for long-distance buses have also begun.

The railway authorities have announced that 100% online advance ticket sales started on March 3. To reduce pressure on the server, tickets are being sold at two different times based on regions this year.

Tickets for all intercity trains in the western region will be available daily from 8:00 am, while tickets for the eastern region will be available from 2:00 pm. Passengers can purchase tickets through the Rail Sheba app and website.

According to the schedule, advance tickets for March 13 are being sold on March 3. Tickets for March 14 will be sold on March 4; for March 15 on March 5; for March 16 on March 6; for March 17 on March 7; for March 18 on March 8; for March 19 on March 9; and for March 20 on March 10.

According to the railway’s decision, to handle the extra rush of passengers during Eid, five pairs (10 in each direction, totaling 20) of special trains will be added. In addition, 47 extra meter-gauge coaches from the Pahartali workshop will be added to service. To ensure smooth Eid travel, the weekly off-days of all intercity trains have been canceled from March 16 until the day before Eid.

Meanwhile, according to a decision by the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association, tickets for travel from March 12 until the day before Eid can be purchased in advance. The organization’s secretary, Shubhangkar Ghosh Rakesh, said that ticket sales began this morning through both counters and online platforms. Passengers can select their bus and seats and purchase tickets through designated websites.

He added that no fare higher than the rate set by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority can be charged. The same fare will apply both online and at ticket counters. However, although the state-owned transport agency Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation will operate long-distance buses during Eid, it has not yet announced its advance ticket sales schedule.
