Thunderstorms likely in Dhaka today

Dhaka and its surrounding areas are likely to witness temporary rain or thundershowers by noon today, according to a forecast by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

According to the forecast issued for the six-hour period from 7:00 AM, the sky may remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast during this time.

Meteorologists say winds may blow from the south or southwest at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. Despite the chance of rain, daytime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 21.6°C at 6:00 AM, with humidity at 88%. Today’s minimum temperature dropped to 20.5°C, while yesterday’s maximum temperature was 33.1°C.

In the past 24 hours, 7 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Dhaka. Since morning, clouds have been দেখা যাচ্ছে in some areas of the city, which may develop into rain as the day progresses.

The forecast also states that the sun will set in Dhaka at 6:17 PM on Wednesday, and sunrise on Thursday will be at 5:43 AM. Due to the risk of lightning during this time, people are advised to remain cautious.

In particular, it is recommended to avoid staying in open areas during rain and to take shelter when lightning occurs. Although the weather remains somewhat unstable, no major storm is expected at this time.
