The Met office has warned that stormy winds with speeds of up to 60 km/h may sweep across 20 districts of the country by noon. It has also indicated the possibility of rain or thunderstorms.
According to a forecast issued Saturday morning by the Storm Warning Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department for inland river ports—covering the period from 3:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—these conditions are expected.
The forecast states that by 1:00 p.m. today, temporary gusty or squally winds from the north or northwest at speeds of 45–60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms, may pass over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet. River ports in these areas have been advised to display warning signal number 1.
Meanwhile, a nationwide forecast issued last night said that some areas in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience moderate to very heavy rainfall. There is also a possibility of waterlogging in some places.
