Marking the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, the Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance tickets for intercity trains.
From Wednesday (May 13) morning, tickets for May 23 journeys are being issued under special arrangements. To prevent black marketing and reduce passenger suffering, the authorities have once again decided to sell 100% of tickets online.
According to the railway’s decision, ticket sales for trains in the western region started today, Wednesday, at 8:00 AM. Passengers will be able to collect tickets for eastern region trains online from 2:00 PM.
According to the railway’s Eid operational plan, advance tickets for train seats for five days before Eid will be sold under special arrangements. Tickets for May 24 journeys will be sold on May 14, tickets for May 25 journeys on May 15, tickets for May 26 journeys on May 16, and tickets for May 27 journeys on May 17.
The railway authorities also stated that each passenger will be allowed to purchase advance Eid journey tickets only once, with a maximum of four tickets per transaction. These advance Eid tickets will not be refundable.
At passengers’ request, 25% of the total seats (excluding higher-class seats) will be sold as standing tickets from station counters on the day of travel.
Meanwhile, ticket sales for May 28, 29, and 30 will depend on the sighting of the Eid moon.
