Update : 04 Jun 2026, 16:34

Citizens across the country can now track letters, parcels and digital commerce products online from home, as the Department of Posts rolls out its Domestic Mail Monitoring Software (DMS) alongside 14 newly established mail processing centres under a nationwide modernization drive.

“The government’s initiatives are focused on modernizing postal services, strengthening logistics facilities and expanding digital platforms so that citizens can access faster and more efficient services,” said Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry Fakir Mahbub Anam.

Under the "Mail Processing and Logistic Service Centre Construction" project implemented by the Department of Posts, he said, 14 mail processing centres equipped with chilling chamber facilities have been constructed across the country to modernize postal operations and improve service quality.

As part of the same project, 1,000 thermal boxes have been procured to facilitate the transportation of perishable goods through the postal transport network, said the minister during the last question-answer session of the JS.

The DMS, developed under the project, enables customers to track and trace letters, parcels and digital commerce products online. The initiative has accelerated postal operations and improved customer services.

To further enhance the capacity of the mail processing centres and upgrade the DMS platform, an initiative has been taken to launch a new development project titled "Sustainability Support for the Mail Processing and Logistic Service Centre Construction Project".

The government is also implementing infrastructure development programmes to renovate and expand postal facilities across the country.

Under the project titled "Construction/Reconstruction of Dilapidated Post Offices under Bangladesh Post Office - 2nd Phase (2nd Revised)", construction, reconstruction, expansion and repair works of a total of 270 post office buildings of different categories are underway.

In addition, construction works of 39 post office buildings are being implemented under the project titled "Physical Infrastructure Development and Expansion of the Department of Posts (1st Revised)".

To modernize and digitize all activities of the postal department, a digital transformation roadmap has been prepared through the "Feasibility Study for Construction of Automated Mail Processing Centres for Bangladesh Post Office" project.

Based on the recommendations of the study, initiatives have been taken to undertake a development project titled "Digital Transformation and Modernization of Postal Services". Steps have also been taken to formulate additional development project proposals in line with the study recommendations.

The government has further initiated a project titled "Smart Expansion and Easy Accessibility of Existing Postal Services at the Citizen Level" to modernize and digitize postal services, alongside efforts to modernize postal training centres.
