Update : 23 Aug 2026, 18:28

Bangladesh received US$2.148 billion in workers' remittances during the first 22 days of August 2026, marking a 25.6 percent increase from US$1.711 billion received during the corresponding period of the previous year.

According to the latest remittance data, the country received US$117 million in workers' remittances during August 20-22 alone.

The strong inflow has pushed total remittance earnings to US$5.006 billion during the period from July 1 to August 22 of the current fiscal year (FY2026-27), compared with US$4.188 billion during the corresponding period of FY2025-26.

Thus, remittance inflow recorded a 19.5 percent year-on-year growth during the period under review.

The continued rise in remittance inflows is expected to strengthen Bangladesh's foreign exchange position and support overall external-sector stability.

The latest figures also indicate sustained growth in remittances through formal channels, contributing to the country's foreign exchange reserves and helping meet foreign currency demand.
