Remittance inflow surges 25.7pc by August 24

Bangladesh received US$81 million in workers' remittances on August 24, taking the total inflow during August 1-24 to US$2.34 billion, up 25.7 percent from US$1.861 billion received during the corresponding period of 2025.

According to the latest data, remittance inflow has maintained strong growth in the current fiscal year 2026-27.

During July 1 to August 24, 2026, the country received US$5.198 billion in workers' remittances, compared with US$4.339 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The latest figure represents a 19.8 percent year-on-year increase in remittance inflow during the first 55 days of FY2026-27.

The continued rise in remittance inflows is expected to help strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves and support external sector stability.
