The second unit of Rampal Maitree Super Thermal Power Project at Bagerhat today resumed operation generating 370 MW against the net capacity of 317 MW.
“The (Rampal) unit-2 was restarted at around 8:30am today and by the afternoon it’s generation quantum stood at 370-MW, being supplied to the national grid,” chief human resources officer of the plant Anwarul Azim told BSS.
He said the unit’s generation was expected to increase gradually to its full capacity.
The unit was shut down due to mechanical troubles at around 11am on September 13.
The 1,320-MW plant having two units was established under a joint venture between Bangladesh and India and went into operation in two phases on September 6, 2022 and December 23, 2023.
Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and India’s National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited jointly operate the plant under a venture called Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt) Ltd (BIFPCL).
