Rain likely in parts of country

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at many places across the country in the next 24 hours beginning at 9:00 am today, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, the BMD bulletin said.

Moderately heavy rainfall is also likely at some places across the country. 

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly throughout the country.

The bulletin also said the monsoon is fairly active over the southern and eastern parts of Bangladesh and weak over the northern Bay of Bengal.
The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the western part of the country and may withdraw from other regions within the next 24 hours.

The highest temperature in the country yesterday was recorded at 34.5 degrees Celsius in Ramgati of Lakshmipur and Feni, while the lowest temperature today was recorded at 20.5 degrees Celsius in Tetulia of Panchagarh.

In Dhaka, wind is blowing from the south and southwest at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometres per hour. Relative humidity in the capital was recorded at 89 percent at 6:00 am today.

The highest rainfall in the country during the 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded at 63 millimetres in Ishwardi.

Sunset in Dhaka today will be at 5:38 pm, while sunrise tomorrow will be at 5:53 am.
