Update : 02 Nov 2026, 19:01

Toronto, Canada: Industry leaders, government representatives and diplomats gathered at the Time & Shine Jewellery Trade Show 2026 on November 1 to discuss gold market trends, investment opportunities and international trade partnerships.

Dr Moniruz Zaman, founder of Bullion Mart, urged jewellers to prepare for potential market volatility in 2027 rather than rely on price predictions.

“Expect the unexpected in 2027,” he said, emphasising inventory management, gold purity verification, financial discipline and customer education.

The event featured Ontario’s Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy and Mines and Scarborough Centre MPP David Smith, alongside Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, Prof Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh.

The Ghanaian envoy highlighted opportunities for stronger Canada-Ghana cooperation in gold refining, jewellery manufacturing, technology transfer and skills development. She expressed the High Commission’s willingness to facilitate partnerships between Canadian businesses, Ghanaian authorities and the Ghana Gold Board.

Smith addressed business opportunities, licensing and regulatory considerations in the minerals sector.

Speakers emphasised responsible trading practices, industry collaboration and expanding international partnerships.

The event also recognised the contributions of Canadian Jeweller Magazine, jewellery industry associations and Bullion Mart in facilitating industry engagement.
