Salman Khan has been issued a gun license for self-protection following death threats, according to news agency ANI. The actor and his father Salim Khan received threat letters in June, days after singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead near Punjab’s Mansa.
The actor had applied for the application soon after a threat letter was found outside his Bandra residence in Mumbai.
Salman's criminal record and background were checked before the firearm license was issued.
There were reports of Salman having upgraded to a Land Cruiser ever since the threats. The vehicle has apparently been fitted with armour and bulletproof glass. Salman Khan and his father, Salim Khan, had received a threat letter from the gang.
This is not the first time that Salman has received a death threat from them. During the blackbuck poaching case, Lawrence Bishnoi had allegedly made similar threats to the Dabangg actor. In Bishnoi community, blackbucks are considered sacred and its killing had angered the people of the community.
Soon after the threatening letter, Salman had met the Mumbai police commissioner at his office. The meeting went on for quite some time. Salman and his father's security have also been beefed up ever since. Security on Salman's film sets has also been tightened.
