Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja have shared the first picture of their newborn son, and revealed the touching meaning behind his name.
The parents gave their baby the name Vayu Kapoor Ahuja on the anniversary of the first month of his life. They revealed Vayu’s first picture and discussed the significance of his name.
In a picture shared on Instagram, the couple are cradling baby Vayu, who was born last month.
The trio looked beautiful in similarly yellow attires and posed cosily for the shutters. While Sonam wore an Anarkali with a neatly tied bun and gajra, Anand wore a yellow kurta and wrapped their baby in a yellow cloth. As the actor lovingly peeked over the baby who was in her husband’s arms, Anand kissed Sonam’s cheeks.
She wrote, “In the spirit of the force that has breathed new meaning into our lives...In the spirit of Hanuman and Bheem who embody immense courage and strength...In the spirit of all that is sacred, life-giving and eternally ours, we seek blessings for our son, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja.”
The parents continued by explaining their reasoning for the baby’s name: In the Hindu scriptures, Vayu is one of the paanch tatvas. He is the supremely potent king of the wind, the spiritual father of Hanuman, Bheem, and Madhav, and the god of breath. Vayu, the principle of life and intellect in the universe, is represented by Praana. Vayu is related to all of the gods of Praana, Indra, Shiva, and Kali. He can extinguish evil as easily as he can create beings. Vayu is praised for being bold, heroic, and stunningly attractive.
Celebs from the industry showered their love on the baby boy through the comments section as soon as she revealed the name. Actress Shibani Dandekar wrote, “Congratulations to your beautiful little family! So happy for you all.” Malaika Arora also took to the comments section and wrote, “That’s a beautiful name. God bless.”
