Allegations have surfaced that members of the SAFF Championship-winning Bangladesh women's football team have had their luggage broken into and money stolen at the Dhaka airport after their return from Nepal.
The incident took place at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after returning to Dhaka from Nepal on September 21.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) informed the matter to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities today (Thursday).
"Money and other valuables of some team members, including Krishna Rani Sarkar and Shamsunnahar, have been stolen from their luggage. Locks have found also found broken of some footballers." said coach Golam Rabbani Chhoton.
It was learnt that the luggage of the women's footballers were sent to the Bangladesh Football Federation bhaban from the airport on Thursday night.
Footballer Krishna's father Vasudev Sarkar told media, "My daughter called me in the morning. She was very upset. Krishna told me that $400 was stolen from her luggage. And some Nepalese currency and clothes were also lost from Shamsun Nahar's luggage."
"After landing at the airport, I came to know that several belongings of Krishna, Shamsun Nahar and the physiotherapist of our team were missing. Money was also missing from their luggage too," said Mahbubur Rahman, assistant coach of the Bangladesh women's football team.
