Rain washes away Bangladesh's Asia Cup dream

Update : 11 Oct 2022, 12:40

Defending champions Bangladesh were eliminated from the Women's Asia Cup after a washout against UAE on Tuesday in Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

A win against the UAE today would have ensured the semi-final. However, the rain has shattered that dream for Bangladesh.

The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to the nonstop rain. The on-field umpires declared the match abandoned after waiting for about two hours. As a result, the Tigresses have to end their Asia Cup journey with just five points from the group stage.

Meanwhile, Thailand thrashed Pakistan and sealed their spot in the Super Four stage with six point from the round-robin stage. The other three teams are India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh won only two out of six games, while Thailand won three in the Women's Asia Cup.
